Agricultural Structures

Agricultural structures don’t need to be energy hogs. In fact, an energy efficiency upgrade can reduce your overhead costs while improving environmental performance, indoor air quality and durability.

Weatherseal Insulation has completed energy audits, insulation installations and comprehensive energy efficiency upgrades on a number of agricultural structures throughout Virginia, such as:

Carter Mountain Orchard

Carter Mountain Orchard, located next to Michie Tavern and mere minutes from Thomas Jeffersonā€™s Monticello, is open mid-April through November. The fun starts in the spring with our annual Easter Egg Hunt, apple blossom time, Spring Fling, and the chance to check out the view early in the year. In the summer, you can head up the hill and pick-your-own tree-ripened peaches, or purchase Ready-Picked fruit in our market. Youā€™ll also find nectarines, white-fleshed peaches, fresh local veggies, and summer apples ā€“ perfect for applesauce and cooking. As summer fades, the action heats up on the mountain with the mid-August start of our spectacular apple season. Pick Your Own, or buy fresh picked in the Apple Barn. When autumn hits full swing in October, Carter Mountain hits its peak with more apples than you can imagine, as well as pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, and classic hayrides around the gorgeous property. An autumn visit to Carter Mountain is a staple on family calendars throughout the state.

Our other agricultural projects include:

  • Mushroom barns
  • Poultry housing
  • Cold storage units
